I almost didn’t make it…

April 9, 2016 by admin

I’ve had the flu. For two weeks.

Usually, I never get sick. I’m not very good at it. This flu kind of came in waves, and I would think I was getting better, then it would hit me again.

I was scheduled to give a workshop at the FEM Talks Goddess Revival Weekend on Easter day. I was determined to be there.

I took the 2 days before to really stay down, be quiet, drink lots of tea, take lots of supplements, and PRAY!!

I made it, and even with my creaky, crackling voice, the Healing Your Soul’s Voice – Reclaiming The Voice of The Goddess Workshop was a favorite of the weekend for the women who attended.

It was also healing and energizing for me. My soul had called me to do this workshop, in spite of the logistics of bringing card making supplies, and having to cram the experience into less than an hour. My body was able to find the energy to answer my soul’s calling.Continue Reading

True partnership in action

March 18, 2016 by admin

sagelevineandarianaI had the great good fortune to attend the Women’s Leadership Summit last weekend at the beautiful Asilomar Conference Grounds in Monterey – a place I always love to go to for any reason.

This was Sage Lavine’s event – the goddess I’m hugging in this photo. I love this woman, and the way she leads and does business. She’s a beautiful example of the new paradigm of business, and of true partnership – with self, others, work, community, spirit and nature.

(I wrote about partnership last week. Read that article here.)

I love how she combines conscious business coaching with spirituality, mutual support, and giving back. I love how she speaks in her whole soul’s voice.

Partnership in work: She demonstrates partnership with her staff – acknowledging them and celebrating them more than any other workshop leader I’ve seen.

The Art of Serendipity

January 7, 2016 by admin

IMG_0489Want to be creative? Cultivate the art of Serendipity!

Serendipity is such a wonderful word, isn’t it?

It makes me think of happy chance, and it’s related in my mind to synchronicity, another word I love.

I just found out that we can actually cultivate serendipity. This is exciting to me! Here’s a lovely story about the origin of the word:

In 1754, Horace Walpole wrote some thoughts on a Persian fairy tale that entranced him about 3 princes from the Isle of Serendip who had extraordinary powers of observation. Walpole suggested this tale contained an important idea about human genius: “As their highnesses travelled, they were always making discoveries, by accident and sagacity, of things which they were not in quest of.” (NYTimes 1/3/16) He proposed the word “serendipity” to describe this talent.

So, serendipity is not something that happens to us by dumb luck. It’s something we DO. It’s about paying attention, casting a wider net, allowing plans to change based on a feeling, using an accidental encounter or happening to chart a new path or open new doors, or make new discoveries.

It means that having too narrow a focus or being too perfectionistic can actually prevent you from finding creative solutions to problems in your business and in your life.Continue Reading

Perspective is Everything

Perhaps the most important lesson I’ve learned in my personal growth journey (and my transformational business journey) is that perspective is everything.

There’s what happens to me, and there’s my perspective (my story) about what happens, and the two are not the same. I don’t always get to choose what happens, but I get to choose my perspective.

I’ve had to learn this profound lesson over and over. When I forget to check in about my perspective, I can get into some deep doo-doo. When I remember to ask, “Is this perspective useful to me or not,” I have the option to choose. If the perspective is not useful (would make things worse, keep things stuck, or make me or someone else miserable), I’ve learned to shift my story about what happened.Continue Reading

Business As a Transformational Journey

February 4, 2015 by admin

Being in business for yourself is not for the faint of heart. Those people who try to sell you the “easy way” to 6 or 7 figures are just flat out dishonest.

Of course, we are really attracted by that language. We all want, wish, hope, that it’s going to be easy and fun. As human beings, we love magical thinking! The truth is, it takes guts, persistence, courage, and a large dose of ongoing personal growth to make it as an entrepreneur, especially if you’re creating a transformational business. And, ultimately, that’s good news. (And some if it IS easy and fun.)

You try things. Some work, and some just fail. Most don’t work the way you planned. You have days of delight, excitement, feeling on purpose, feeling on fire. You have days when you don’t want to get out of bed.

On the road to success lie a lot of potholes. Some of them are large enough to drive a truck into. I know because I’ve been in them.Continue Reading
