The divine masculine needs healing, too

I’ve been reading about and talking with friends and mentors about the men. I’ve been mostly working with, reading books by, and being mentored by women for many years.

There is so much to do to reclaim the divine feminine, and to restore the place of women in our cultures as fully respected partners of men. There has been so much deep wounding and silencing and shaming of women. So much devaluing and denigration of the feminine aspects of the divine – in our cultures and in our major religions. We have been deeply wounded.

And so have our men.

Spirit is calling me to work with men too, now. To help them heal from the ways in which their divine masculine nature has been distorted and suppressed and silenced and shamed. From the way they have been trained to dominate, rather than partner.Continue Reading

What’s important now? Healing our shadow, said my spirit guides…

I went into meditation recently with the question for my Spirit guides – What information would be most useful for people now? Healing our shadow, they said.

Healing of the self. Honoring the shadow as part of the self. Gazing with love at the shadow is extremely important right now.

We must do that now within ourselves, and we must do that with those we consider the Other. Especially those whom we consider to hold entirely wrong beliefs.

They reminded us that those others see themselves as whole. That they see us as the Other. That the Other is Us. (Who remembers Pogo?)

They remind us the Shadow is also divine. The more we love and see clearly our shadow, the more love we have to see the shadow in others and to send love to that shadow. It is about bringing love into the darkness. To receive and send love in the darkness.

Send love. Send love inward and send love outward. Send love into all the dark places, and honor the dark, as you honor and love the light. It is necessary for balance.

Accepting and loving the shadow in the self leads to healing the collective shadow.

Yes, action is necessary, they said. Love also spurs us into action. When we act from love and compassion, when we act from this place of being in balance with our own shadow, we are much more effective. And we bring healing, and we bring understanding, and we bring our listening, and above all, we bring our love.

Refuse to hate in the face of what looks like hate to you. Remember, the others see you as the Other. Remember, the others are seeing you as the hate. Remember, the others are us. Remember, the other is you. Remember this. Remember.

Dear ones –

What are your BIG questions? I’ve been on quite a journey since the “election.” (Almost 3 million more votes, and HRC still LOST?) See below for my “ask” for your questions.

I’ve always been a very spiritual person, on a life-long spiritual and personal growth journey. I don’t follow one spiritual path. I love the phrase I heard when studying yoga, “God is one. The paths are many.”

Always one to follow my intuition, I’ve been fascinated by mythology and various spiritual traditions. I’ve studied some, and read widely. I mostly kept quiet about hearing, seeing and feeling things that others don’t – because, let’s face it, our culture generally discourages these abilities.

Now, I’m coming out! I recently graduated from a training with Seven Sisters Mystery School, and am now a Dove Oracle Priestess.

It’s a big title to claim, and I’m still growing into it. I’m truly delighted with the way this work is bringing together all the aspects of my training, experience and spirituality.

Raw and vulnerable…

The election has left me feeling raw, vulnerable, and as if I’m living in an alternate reality. My faith in humanity has been shaken.

A dear friend reminded me of how important our songs are at times like these. Here is one of mine – raw and unrehearsed.

When toads come out of my mouth…

As much work as I’ve done on myself and my ability to communicate with integrity, I still goof sometimes.

I did it with a dear friend the other day. I said something that really hurt her. I actually used a word I’ve never used in that context before. It was extreme hyperbole, and totally inappropriate.

I was stunned that it came out of my mouth, and BOY was I ashamed.

And irony of ironies – we were having a meeting about a retreat we’re doing on difficult communication.

I remembered the old tale where an uncivil little girl is cursed by a fairy to have toads & snakes come out of her mouth, while her civil and kind sister is given the gift of flowers and jewels.

We sat there, looking at the toad I had spoken, sitting in the middle of the room. I was squirming inside. My friend is a very accomplished communicator herself, and we worked it out pretty quickly.

But my shame didn’t go away for more than an hour. Continue Reading
