When toads come out of my mouth…

October 28, 2016 by admin

As much work as I’ve done on myself and my ability to communicate with integrity, I still goof sometimes.

I did it with a dear friend the other day. I said something that really hurt her. I actually used a word I’ve never used in that context before. It was extreme hyperbole, and totally inappropriate.

I was stunned that it came out of my mouth, and BOY was I ashamed.

And irony of ironies – we were having a meeting about a retreat we’re doing on difficult communication.

I remembered the old tale where an uncivil little girl is cursed by a fairy to have toads & snakes come out of her mouth, while her civil and kind sister is given the gift of flowers and jewels.

We sat there, looking at the toad I had spoken, sitting in the middle of the room. I was squirming inside. My friend is a very accomplished communicator herself, and we worked it out pretty quickly.

But my shame didn’t go away for more than an hour. Continue Reading

Activate your speaking voice as sound healer

September 11, 2016 by admin

I’m on a roll with videos – inspired by the conversations I’ve been having with women about what they’re struggling with. In todays video I’m going to speak with you about ways to active your speaking voice as a sound healer. This one is only 4 minutes – in response to the desire to use the speaking voice for healing and spiritual connection.

(Shot this in my beautiful healing space and voice studio at home.)

If you’d like my help to activate your voice as a sound healer, message me on my FB Page, and we’ll set up a time.

Blessings!

arianameditation2_artworksm“After listening to the meditation I felt so calm and relaxed. I loved it. I could feel the frequencies going through my body and I felt as though something shifted in my throat chakra. It’s always that area that needs a boost. I also felt like there was a weight taken off my shoulders. I felt totally at peace when it finished and plan to make it part of my regular practice. Thank you Ariana. It’s a wonderful experience!” -Su Davey

Power over? Or power with?

March 10, 2016 by admin

power over? or power with?

Power.

Does the word make you uncomfortable?

Conscious people who’ve done a lot of work on themselves are often uncomfortable with the idea of wielding power. The word has a negative connotation for us – of force, domination, control…

But – as change agents, we have to get comfortable with power. We have to be able to handle power, leadership and influence. However, to create the change we want, we need a different KIND of power – power WITH instead of power OVER.

This is another piece of the new project I’m working on – upgrading the 3rd chakra to handle power in partnership – power WITH, instead of in the old dominator model – power OVER.

I’m really excited about this project, and how it’s coming together. It’s going to be a wonderful new tool for Healing Your Soul’s Voice, which means being able to speak from the Partnership model of power (among other things).Continue Reading

Are You In Partnership With Yourself?

February 4, 2016 by admin

Are You In Partnership With Yourself?I’m passionate about creating true partnership between men and women, so we can all be in partnership with our planet to create a world we can all thrive in.

So, I’m taking a course based on Riane Eisler’s book, “The Power of Partnership.” I’ve been blessed to work with her directly in the past, and she is an amazing woman who has been inspiring me since the 80s.

Our first module is about our partnership with SELF – which is the place we have to start. We can’t create true partnership with others until we become a true partner with ourSELF.

For me, this means accepting ALL of me – even the parts that seem pretty dark or that look like they’re still sabotaging me in spite of all my years of personal growth work.

One issue that’s coming up again is the masculine vs. feminine within myself, and in our culture. I’ve found a more integrated way of looking at them in Riane’s work.

There are a lot of authors and coaches now working with “feminine principles,” “feminine power,” “feminine leadership models,” and “feminine” _______ (fill in the blank with your favorite). They encourage women to tune in to their “feminine” instead of their  “masculine,” which has been causing them to push too hard, to burn out, to operate from a way of being that isn’t natural.

Let me be clear – I’m FOR the resurgence of the feminine. We need to bring the traditionally-considered-as-female qualities — caring, nurturing, collaboration, deep listening, going with the flow, doing without forcing, etc. — into businesses, our lives, and our culture. We also need to raise women up to true equal (partnership) status with men.Continue Reading

The Art of Serendipity

January 7, 2016 by admin

IMG_0489Want to be creative? Cultivate the art of Serendipity!

Serendipity is such a wonderful word, isn’t it?

It makes me think of happy chance, and it’s related in my mind to synchronicity, another word I love.

I just found out that we can actually cultivate serendipity. This is exciting to me! Here’s a lovely story about the origin of the word:

In 1754, Horace Walpole wrote some thoughts on a Persian fairy tale that entranced him about 3 princes from the Isle of Serendip who had extraordinary powers of observation. Walpole suggested this tale contained an important idea about human genius: “As their highnesses travelled, they were always making discoveries, by accident and sagacity, of things which they were not in quest of.” (NYTimes 1/3/16) He proposed the word “serendipity” to describe this talent.

So, serendipity is not something that happens to us by dumb luck. It’s something we DO. It’s about paying attention, casting a wider net, allowing plans to change based on a feeling, using an accidental encounter or happening to chart a new path or open new doors, or make new discoveries.

It means that having too narrow a focus or being too perfectionistic can actually prevent you from finding creative solutions to problems in your business and in your life.Continue Reading

Becoming Fearless (Or Not)

October 22, 2015 by admin

I was in a coaching program for a while with “Fearless” in the title. I learned a lot, but I didn’t become fearless.

Lots of people out there want to teach you how to become Fearless!! – to banish fear, to get rid of it, to stop it – because fear is BAD. Fear is negative, and we can’t have any negativity in our lives if we want to succeed. Or so the story goes.

The truth is, it’s not actually a good thing to get rid of fear.

There are 3 pieces of this.

One: Fear is actually a very valuable thing that tells us something is wrong, or could go badly wrong. Sometimes it is necessary to survival. That fear you feel when you’re thinking about whether to get into an elevator with a shifty-eyed, bad-energy-pouring-off-him guy is a good thing. It says, “Danger! Don’t go in there!”

Two: Making the automatic judgment that fear is negative usually misses the point.Continue Reading
