Got questions? Me, too..

December 14, 2016 by admin

Dear ones –

What are your BIG questions? I’ve been on quite a journey since the “election.” (Almost 3 million more votes, and HRC still LOST?) See below for my “ask” for your questions.

I’ve always been a very spiritual person, on a life-long spiritual and personal growth journey. I don’t follow one spiritual path. I love the phrase I heard when studying yoga, “God is one. The paths are many.”

Always one to follow my intuition, I’ve been fascinated by mythology and various spiritual traditions. I’ve studied some, and read widely. I mostly kept quiet about hearing, seeing and feeling things that others don’t – because, let’s face it, our culture generally discourages these abilities.

Now, I’m coming out! I recently graduated from a training with Seven Sisters Mystery School, and am now a Dove Oracle Priestess.

It’s a big title to claim, and I’m still growing into it. I’m truly delighted with the way this work is bringing together all the aspects of my training, experience and spirituality.

When toads come out of my mouth…

October 28, 2016 by admin

As much work as I’ve done on myself and my ability to communicate with integrity, I still goof sometimes.

I did it with a dear friend the other day. I said something that really hurt her. I actually used a word I’ve never used in that context before. It was extreme hyperbole, and totally inappropriate.

I was stunned that it came out of my mouth, and BOY was I ashamed.

And irony of ironies – we were having a meeting about a retreat we’re doing on difficult communication.

I remembered the old tale where an uncivil little girl is cursed by a fairy to have toads & snakes come out of her mouth, while her civil and kind sister is given the gift of flowers and jewels.

We sat there, looking at the toad I had spoken, sitting in the middle of the room. I was squirming inside. My friend is a very accomplished communicator herself, and we worked it out pretty quickly.

But my shame didn’t go away for more than an hour. Continue Reading

Why I Don’t Want You To Raise Your Vibration

July 29, 2016 by admin

I hear it all the time – spiritually oriented people talking about raising their “frequency” or their “vibration?” Do you?

BUT – it’s totally inaccurate. I believe that using the words “frequency” and “vibration” in the singular prevents you from expanding your consciousness in the ways you’re seeking. Not only are they not accurate, but they limit your understanding of what is going on in your consciousness and your energy fields. That blocks you from moving forward.

There are no pure tones in nature. A pure tone consists of only one frequency. Tones are more like musical chords, containing multiple frequencies at once. We can’t raise our “frequency” or our “vibration” – we are always working with frequencIES and vibrationS – PLURAL.

When you play a note on any instrument (including the voice), it is always composed of the base frequency AND higher overtones that sound in a consistent mathematical progression above the base frequency.

The overtone sequence actually corresponds to sacred geometry.

As we raise our consciousness, we open the doors to perceiving more subtle information. You can gain SO much richness by opening the doors to perceiving the overtones, and other frequencies that carry information.

Everything is vibration. Everything vibrates.Continue Reading

Devastated. Exhausted. You?

July 27, 2016 by admin

So much has been going on in our country and the world that is devastating. I’m emotionally exhausted. Are you?

Much of what’s going on has to do with not having honest, respectful conversations about the difficult stuff – race, gender bias, religious extremism, cultural change, politics, and …

We don’t want to talk about these difficult issues because we don’t want people to get angry with us, we’re afraid we’ll choke up and won’t be able to get the words out, we don’t want a negative reaction…

Or, we don’t want to know about things that are scary and threaten our comfort. We don’t want to hear information that challenges our dearly held beliefs or unconscious biases.

Let’s face it, we all have unconscious biases. (One of mine is my tendency to discount the privilege I’ve had all my life because my skin is white.) If you’ve read my newsletters for a while, you’ve read about unconscious gender bias, so hopefully, you’re aware about how that operates for you…

So, how DO we talk about the difficult stuff?Continue Reading

This makes me mad!

June 30, 2016 by admin

I’m doing a lot of spiritual work these days, and this nonsense has to stop:

There’s a strong element in spirituality that calls for us to always be “in the light,” or “seek for the light.” We’re also constantly seeking for higher consciousness, which makes us think of going up. Up is light, and down is dark – or is it?

I think that misses the point of life here on Earth as human beings. Yes, we are of the light, and we are also of the Earth, and she sustains us. My own experience is teaching me that part of “higher” consciousness is honoring the dark and getting more connected to Mother Earth.

As I see it, the constant seeking the light and talking about the light tends to make us do a number of things that don’t serve us. Such as:Continue Reading

Don’t Yell At Me!

June 24, 2016 by admin

I remember last Thanksgiving at our family gathering. I got passionate about something, and a male family member kept interrupting me. I told him very firmly to stop, and he said, “Don’t yell at me.”

Now, if you’d ever heard me yell (remember, I used to be an opera singer), you’d know I wasn’t even close to yelling. I told him so, and he left the table.

He wanted to control the conversation, and when I wouldn’t let him, he accused me of yelling, and that was supposed to make me shut up. When that didn’t work, he took his football and left.

Most of you women have heard this MANY, MANY times in your lives when you weren’t even close to yelling. Some of you men may have been the ones saying, “Don’t yell at me,” when the woman wasn’t even close to yelling.Continue Reading
