"In the years I worked professionally with Ariana, I found her to be one of the most - in fact the most - knowledgeable, intelligent, creative and resourceful woman I know. Her bodywork is excellent." - Richard M. Kowal, DC
My background in professional dance and singing, yoga and therapeutic exercise gives me an excellent understanding of the physiological mechanisms of injuries and knowledge of how to work with them. My experience in physical therapy and chiropractic clinics has given me the ability to work with a wide variety of injuries and conditions.
Each session is tailored to you, with touch ranging
from deep to subtle depending on your preferences and needs, and can
include the modalities listed.
I receive patient referrals from M.D.s, osteopaths,
chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists, voice teachers and dentists. I
work with your other providers when necessary to optimize your healing.

Low back pain and sciatica Sacroiliac joint problems Shoulder/Rotator cuff injuries Neck pain/Whiplash TMJ problems Vocal problems
Headaches Knee problems Recovery from knee and hip surgery Repetitive stress injury/carpal tunnel Tennis elbow Recovery after mastectomy
"Ariana Newcomer has both anatomic and intuitive knowledge of the body, deeply skilled hands, and a kind heart. These characteristics make her an excellent massage therapist. When I send patients to her, I know she will understand and assist in the healing process." - Kim Beecher, DC
I graduated from Harvard University and danced professionally in New York City for a number of years. I received a Massage Therapist degree in 1984 from the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy and began my bodywork practice in New York City. I studied CranioSacral Therapy with John Upledger, D.O., completing the Advanced Course in 1991, and have made a personal study of trigger point release work. After moving to California, I was on staff at Adams & Schmidt Physical Therapy in the Santa Cruz area for 9 years, specializing in injury rehabilitation and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. I have taught yoga and back-care exercise classes. I sang professionally in the Monterey Bay area, performing principal roles in regional opera, and as a soloist with area orchestras and ensembles. I developed vocal problems that ended my professional career, and I have learned many hands-on techniques to help establish healthy vocal production, or to assist with recovery from vocal problems. As a singer, your body is your instrument!
